screw you man!!!

Kick off tomorrow!

It's getting closer and closer and we're so excited! Neither of us went to Le Picnic last year and MAN did I miss it! I've been twice so far and each time had the most fun weekend and this one is shaping up to be just that again! I heard from a source that mindfucker extraordinaire Derren Brown might be ambling around, a thought that quite frankly frightens the hell out of me, as I find him super creepy and in my inevitably drunken state I dread to think what I'll do. Running away scared will probably be most likely but you never know. There's also meant to be a pirate ship in the woods (sure where else!) and I realised last night that the Inflatable Church and cinema tent are there too hooray! I married my friend Molly in something of a shotgun wedding the last time and then danced my face off to "Love Shack" in the church and I can't freakin wait for another three days of sexy mayhem. It's going to be fucking amazing!

Electric Picnic

so it's that time of year again, fingers toes and tits crossed people, that the weather will hold. Ladies and gentlemen i give you "The Electric Picnic" (cue cool alternative music from obscure band no body has heard of, and flash backs to previous years!) is it The or just Electric picnic?? anyway a few essentials for the festival follow;

1. Dry Shampoo. A must for the cailinis especially if like me you have short hair and can't tie the fecker back.
2. baby wipes. These will be your link to hygiene.
3. bog roll, or packets of tissues, the porta bogs will inevitable run out, AND you can use your supply, as a loo cover also. God knows what sckanky ho or dude has been there before, with god knows what was on there behind.
4. water, lots of it.
5. tayto's and a slice loaf. (In case of an attack of the muchies!) I recommend buttering the bread before you head down to the festival. "Be prepared" (as the boy scout i have locked away tells me)
6. lots of socks
7. plasters
8. a pillow
9. something to distinguish your tent from... lets say, brian the guy from leitrim, who has a skwint and has said he has the exact same tent! magic!
9. and of course plenty of booze!!!

oh i recommend david o'doherty in the comedy tent on friday too, he's headlining. soo funny!!

so anyone got any other essentials?? anyone else going?

Ben & Jerry's Baked Alaska = yes please

Serious-type musings aside, I had a kick ass weekend. Fun bits included:

Meeting up with six Spanish priests and a few other heads I know from my time pretending to be an English teacher in Spain. Went on the lash with them and some randomer came up to me at the end of the night to tell me I had "terrific hair". Nice!

Going out to Dundrum to see Wall-E and scoff popcorn and Ben & Jerry's ice cream with himself, since Saturday was a total rainfest and then spending the evening over at his house, which was empty. Muahaha.

Got my World Culture on, Dun Laoghaire-style in the sunshine. I think I'd forgotten what sunshine felt like, but was reminded whilst eating falafel and listening to a salsa-reggae band.

Said cultural day got me all excited about Electric Picnic this weekend AND the forecast is even good! Happy days!

Thursday and Friday will remain warm and humid, with most areas seeing a lot of dry bright weather and sunny spells developing from time to time. Temperatures will reach the low twenties across many eastern and southern regions in particular, and winds will be just light to moderate westerly.

Aw yeah!

Six weeks in

That's how long we've been seeing each other. He remembers the date but I had to check my old emails to figure it out. In the beginning I felt like he was more into me than I was into him and wasn't quite sure what to do, if anything. But it turned out that the more time I spent with him, the more I liked him. The first night he stayed over, while I was all sleepy tired after shenanigans that I didn't plan on having till the next week at least, he said he was falling for me. I didn't know how to respond so I kept my eyes closed, pretending to have nodded off.

Since then though, he's told me he loves me a few times. It's weird though because he says in a way that sort of catches me off guard. There's never any pressure dangling off it though and I don't feel like I have to say it back right there and then. He said it once while we were in the car and I just laughed it off, saying "No you don't!" and he said that yes, he does and that he just wears his heart on his sleeve. He told me he wouldn't say it anymore if it wrecks my head, but it doesn't. I don't know if I'm ready to say it just yet, but I will eventually. There are a lot of things I love about him, so maybe it'll just take me a bit longer for it all to mush together, Terminator 2-style into loving him.

step away from Gok, Bra burner....

ok i've read a few blogs lately that are about these "make over" shows and the presenters on them, and what they are about. Well i just wanted to put in my two pence worth and say that, ok, trinny and susannah are a bit too in your face sometimes, but i think they started the whole dress for your shape thing. Which in my humble opinion is a very good thing. The show they have on now highlights whats wrong with high street stores for example having the same dresses for a size 10 to 20, which is silly as they are obviously not the same shape. The size 10 girl will look better than the size 20 girl in the same dress or visa versa.

However i think it's Gok Wan, who has really made the right impression (on me anyway). He totally knows what looks good on our different shapes and sizes and makes you feel great about your image. He has a knack for highlighting the good parts of your body. I know some people say that he is seems to be championing this "prioritse your image before everything else" attitude, but i really don't think he is. I know from myself that, if, i feel i look good in whatever I'm wearing, i can face the day and i feel good about myself. Shoot me! i like to look good in clothes. I'm not saying that i prioritise my image before work and family, but is that not obvious. Do we really need to spell it out that these shows are candy floss telly. I really don't think there is any hidden agenda. I fear women can be too PC about body issues. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good (when did that become a mortal sin) and if someone can show me how to look better then fine with me. Bring it on Gok.

Wait for me!

Yeah, I'm a bit late to the party on this one. Anthony, Darren, Lottie and Annie all have lovely mosaics and I'm jealous so I did one too. Rules as per T Cup's postaroony.

What is your first name?
What is your favorite food?
What high school did you go to?
What is your favorite color?
Who is your celebrity crush?
What is your favorite drink?
What is your dream vacation?
What is your favorite dessert?
What do you want to do when you grow up?
Who/ what do you love most in life?
Choose one word that describes you?
What is your Flickr name?

Ta daaa

all aboard!

Anthony, Darren and Lottie posted up answers to some questions in the form of a mosaic of flickr images and it turned out really cool. so not to be out done...

Here are the questions first:

What is your first name?
What is your favorite food?
What high school did you go to?
What is your favorite color?
Who is your celebrity crush?
What is your favorite drink?
What is your dream vacation?
What is your favorite dessert?
What do you want to do when you grow up?
Who/ what do you love most in life?
Choose one word that describes you?
What is your Flickr name?

The Idea:

Type your answer to the questions into a flickr search
Using only the first page, pick an image
Copy and paste each of the urls in the Mosaic Maker

so here's mine cool eh? (yes that is a mr hammond)

Oh Fuck

Argh, I've fucked up in work and now I have to tell my boss that yes, that photo is terrible quality and no, I didn't spot it before this job went to print last week. Fuckity fuckity fuckaroo. Just waiting for him to finish on the phone and then I'll have to go in and face it. Fuck!

i saw it first!

so i was walking down the highways and byways of dublin town t'other day and i noticed something... girls wearing pretty flowery tea dresses with cowboy boots! Did someone see moi wearing these back at the start of the year and spread the word. i must admit i was a little miffed at it as i liked the idea of having my own individual style (not that its very original i know!) but anyway it got me thinking. I love fashion, LOVE LOVE LOVE IT, my fashion guru is Gok Wan he is an absolute legend. His last series was brill. anyway i want to start blogging a bit about fashion, or at least what i like about fashion.

I love looking at what people are wearing around town and spotting the fashionistas (and the wannabe's). I'm not a fan of what the "kids" are wearing these days. F**cking emo wrecks my head! fashion should make a proper statement it should not make you look like you want to live under a bridge. The roots of emo are punk though and i love punk, now that made people stop and stare. Punk didn't last very long but it still has impact today.

vivienne westwood

The queen of punk Vivienne Westwood is still pushing boundaries today. i love her eclectic mix of the bizzarre and the wonderful. i want her Flapover Wallet in Urban outfitters.

Anyway i was wondering what sort of styles do people go for these days though. Most people always seems to say either Kate or Sienna but what about Agyness, Pixie and Daisy Lowe? Surely we're not all droons, following what black jeans and white vest kate is wearing these days.

Somewhat smitten kitten

We both tie our laces the same way, that is making two loops and knotting them together. That's how Dad taught me to tie my shoes and I never met anyone else who did it like that.

He can spell. T Dog has pointed out many times that I'm something of a grammar nazi (her words) and I can't help it. I'm a teacher's daughter (in fact, two teachers) so that's my excuse. Bad spelling drives me crazy.

He didn't confuse my Cheshire Cat teddy with Bagpuss, as many people have done before. Yes, these are the sort of things that matter to me.

He can drive. My friend N and I were talking about this last week and agreed that it's very attractive when a boy can drive but we're not exactly sure why.

The sex is so good that after the first time, I couldn't feel my face.

Guess what?

I've actually got a boyfriend. Fuck me, how did that happen?

friday's i'm in love

so i'm spending my night all alone tonight i'm going to maybe get a chinese a bottle of wine, (drinking alone though) but a conditioning treatment in my hair and lob on the fake tan. maybe i shouldn't have a bottle of wine? i might end up looking like this

maybe i'll finally watch the godfather parts 2 and 3 but again the wine might not help this situation as you REALLY need to concentrate on what's going on in that. i really need to get cracking on my new year's resolution though, (i promised myself that i'd watch all those films you have to watch before you die, not that i'm planning on dying next next year. But you never know that bus with your name on the bumper could be just around the corner!!)

anyway i'm not sure where i'm going with this post, actually i do i'm trying to avoid doing actual work.

ciao dudes

meme thingy

that meme thing takes too much energy and thought so i'll do a brief one,

the person who will play me is angelina jolie (hey a girl can wish)
the bf would be david tennant
k would be, sure i'll stick to hers "alison hannigan"
and Gael GarcĂa Bernal for the token minority

re rules: look at k's post below

When. Will I. Will I be faaamous?

It's my first ever meme! I've seen a few floating around before and been kinda like someone who isn't invited to a house party and just sort of looking in the window to see what the craic is, so danke schoen to Miss Lottie for cracking open the bathroom window and letting me sneak in. So I must now cast the people to be in Kitty Cat: The Movie. Here goes.

The Rules

List the people who would play you, and the key people in your life.
Give credit to the person who tagged you.
Link your answers to the original blog, www.iramble.co.uk
Tag four new people to participate

Me!

Hmm. When I was little my Dad's art students used to rave about how I was the spit of Hannah in Neighbours. Funnily enough, I got braces around the same time as she did. So for the flashbacks maybe something could be done with old footage of Neighbours, dubbed over with a Waterford accent. Sort of like Soupy Norman but probably not quite as funny.

More recently though, I've been told I look like Alyson Hannigan (Yes, her of the band camp shenanigans. And out of Buffy), which could work as she does the whole awkward, not knowing what to say, kinda nerdy girl thing nicely. Failing that, I wouldn't mind Zooey Deschanel giving it a whack, since she's got the big eyes and quirky thing going on, and she's superhot with nice hair so I'd look good! And my fringe is a bit like hers in this photo:

My homies

T-Dog could be a tricky one. She changes her hair every four minutes or so, and it always suits her so maybe a lady like Brittany Murphy could pull it off. (Plus she came up as a match for T, if Bebo pages and myheritage.com are to be believed) She's also cute and a bit small, well able for sarcastic one-liners, bags of attitude and could play the relationship coach that T has become quite well. ie "No! You're NOT to have sex on a fourth date!"

LLM is a cute, big bear type of fella and looks a bit like Justin Lee Collins but smaller, less beardy and not as much gruaig. Plus he's funny so I reckon JLC could do the job.

My mate P-Fish from college is a dead ringer for Colin Farrell, and was told as such by one of our lecturers. Although his actual words were "a gay Colin Farrell". So Col would have to brush up on his ability to put on camp voices and act the maggot. Oh and lose the Dub accent for something more Corkonian.

I reckon my Grandad could be played by Dominic Chianese, aka Junior Soprano, seeing as he actually looks a bit like him (Grandad has nicer glasses though) and I'm from one of the biggest families in my hometown and he's at the head of it all, like a Mafia don. But one who smokes cigars and goes set dancing twice a week.

Supporting characters

Russell Brand could play himself for the scene where I meet him at his book signing. Except this time maybe my Alyson/Zooey incarnation would have something clever and funny to say when he went "mmm!", looked at me like you'd look at a nice cake and told me I had great tits, instead of giggling like a teenager and being unable to say anything but "um...thanks!"

I want David Tennant to be in it somehow. He could be the guy who I buy a Yop from in Spar or something, I don't care, he has to be in it one way or another, and he will. Oh yes indeedy.

Right then, I'm going to ask T Dog to give it a whack as well, and since I don't think very many people read this blog, maybe Conor, Catherine or Manuel will give it a lash if they drop by.

Cut!

Bad Ass Pussycat

So apparently Quentin Tarantino is going to remake Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!, a film that admittedly, until today I didn't know much about but I've loved the name of for a looong time. It's basically a loopy 1960s exploitation film about three mental hyper-sexy strippers who like nothing better than racing teeny sports cars in the desert and get all tangled up in a murder/kidnap/robbery plot. The leader of this psycho girl-gang is Varla, a scary-hot dominatrix with a massive rack and lesbian tendencies who kills a guy with her bare hands, kicking the whole thing off. It would appear that QT is signing up Britney Spears for the part. Fair enough I thought, I'd like Britney to make a big dirty comeback and if it's in a Tarantino film that will probably be done in the same sleazy fantastic vein as Grindhouse (which I still wish was released as an old school double feature) then so much the better.

BUT, during my Google attack on Faster Pussycat, I found out loads about the 60s Varla, a genuine badass called Tura Satana, who started off as a burlesque performer in the late 50s, and more or less co-created the character. This woman scares the bejaysus out of me. She's hardcore and no messin. She was born in Japan and and grew up in a WW2 internment camp, became a gang member in Chicago during which time she got handy with knives and switchblades and the like, Angelina eat yer heart out. When she was only nine she was gang raped on the way home from school, so her Dad taught her Karate to protect herself, and during the 15 years after that, she went all vigilante and actually tracked down the rapists and got her revenge. Talk about balls.

She was married at 13, became an underage model, toured America with some of the biggest burlesque stars of the 50s and 60s (she had a reputation for fighting with the other dancers if anyone fucked with her live performances), she got shot in the stomach by a crazy ex boyfriend and survived a horrible car crash that landed her in hospital for a few years. Between all that she also worked as a stuntwoman, nurse, police radio-operator and bodyguard and had flings with Frank Sinatra and Elvis. Why there hasn't been a film about her life yet, I really don't know. Apparently she's writing her autobiography so I suppose it's only a matter of time once it gets published. What an actual legend.

So anyway, my point is that if it's true about Britney being cast as Varla, she's got some mighty big stripper boots to fill.

2. That Professor Dumbledore was gay.
3. That Eva Longoria sits at home scoffing Magnums on the couch.
4. That interstitial is an actual word.
5. That I would be strangely attracted to James Corden.
6. Who Miley Cyrus is.
7. That nobody cares if you lie on your CV.
8. That I would be unable to finish a list on an odd number.

So there you have it.
