to throw off - throwing something into the bin/rubbish

to throw away - now that's just crazy talk

P.S. the only catwoman for K is julie newmar (oh and michelle pfeiffer)

No prizes for guessing what I went to see last night in t'cinema. No matter how much people talk up Heath Ledger's Joker, I don't think you're ever really ready for just how frightening he is in it. It has to be said, his entrance is right up there with Jack Sparrow and his perfectly timed sinking ship, ie brilliant. I know everyone and their Mammy has reviewed The Dark Knight, so I'm not even going to attempt to but if anyone hasn't seen it yet then do yourself a favour and GO! Anyway, I found some interesting stuff about the film over at IMDb and I love trivia so here's some.

Matt Damon was Christopher Nolan's first choice for the role of Harvey Dent but turned it down.

Director Christopher Nolan and co-writers Jonathan Nolan and David S. Goyer decided not to explore the origins of the Joker in order to portray the character as "absolute."

While in the nurse uniform, The Joker's name badge says Matilda. This is the name of Heath Ledger's daughter.

In the scene where the Joker pays a visit to Bruce Wayne's penthouse, Michael Caine had never met Ledger before, so when Ledger arrived and performed he gave Caine such a fright he forgot his lines.

The nine-minute suite composed for the Joker is based around two notes, D and C. Interestingly enough, Batman's comic book company (who also produces the film) is DC Comics.

I love the part about poor aul Michael Caine forgetting his lines because he go so freaked out. Scary as it was to watch Ledger in action on screen, it must have been something else to be in the same room as him and have him get in your face in person. Oh AND apparently they're thinking of getting Johnny Depp as the Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin in the next one, can you imagine!? I wonder what they'd do if they brought Catwoman into the fray. Would they really want to be associated with the major floparoo with Halle Berry and cast her in it or start from scratch? (Ahaha totally unintentional pun, I promise.) Anyway as far as I'm concerned, the only Catwoman is either Michelle Pfeiffer or Julie Newmar. Miaow!

(And as an aside, I went to see it with LLM. It's all going rather well although he's gagging for the ride but won't be getting it till at least the weekend after the Bank Holiday.)

Jean Widmer

With regards to my last post here are some images of Jean Widmer's.

i need to tickle my creative juices

so i'm pretty quiet at wrk of late basically doing text changes etc to boring brochures not very creative unfortunately but i think i'll just about survive. anyway because i'm not doing anything too creative i've been reacquainting myself with design on the auld interweb. and i'm falling back in love with saul bass again. what a legend he is eactly the kind of design i love and understand, some stuff just goes way over my ceann. but give me geometric and basic shapes and i'm there with bells on. i've discovered a swiss designer called jean widmer recently also, his posters are forever immortalised in Habitats postcard ranges and they are also amazing the clean lines and the bold colours have me all excited.

i love this kind of design it looks so easy but it's so much deeper. a lot of the punk imagery from the 70's and 80's with regard to colour remind me of this style of design. of course the grandaddy of this design well for me any way is piet mondrian and the de stijl movement

and what came from all that, Bauhaus, modernism, post moderism. if you like bold colours and simple but amzing design then you couldn't do far wrong than this. i admit it i like geometry!!

Vamos chicos

Spanish students. Bloody Spanish students. I taught English for two months in Palencia and they were lovely, well behaved, super-endearing little kids. What is it about Ireland that morphs them into the loudest, most annoying group of (minimum) 20 people that stand in the middle of a footpath and don't show any signs of moving out of ANYBODY'S way? I used to work in a tacky, I mean lovely souvenir shop in Cork and during the Spanish Invasion months we had to get extra security of a Saturday since the little feckers would rob four shamrock/sheep/pint o'Guinness shaped keyrings as soon as look at you. Now the last thing I want to do is wish the summer away, but I'm quite looking forward to being able to walk down Grafton Street without Javier/Pablo/Ignacio/Ines/Maria/Pilar crashing into me because they are unable to look where the fuck they're going or just standing in the entire population of Dublin's way.

Phew. Better now.

had bit of a row with the bf last nite. we only ever see each other at the weekends and i wanted him to stay up last nite and go home this morning. but he went last nite. fine ok. but then he went out last nite at home and didn’t arrive home till 4.50am and then he decides to ring me and say he decided to leave the party and he actually sounded proud of himself for leaving at that time!! i wouldn’t mind as much but the main reason he wanted to go home was because he didn’t want to get up at 5.30am cos he’d be wrecked at work!! i’m fuming. i can’t believe what he did.

i mean he kenw how upset i was at him leaving yesterday and then he does that. is it worth it, really?

Pants - your underwear ie knickers, under pants (t'underpants if your from north of england) jocks, boxers etc.

Pance - your ACTUAL pance the ones you wear over your panTS!

My eyes! My eyes!

I just had to post something to bump down that scary picture from T Dog's post, it freaks me out no end. Scary monkey eyes.

Nothing much to report really...texted the Italian yesterday out of guilt since I hadn't gotten back to him in about a week. But then he rang and I didn't answer, which is a bit lousy I KNOW but I hate talking on the phone and the last time he rang he didn't know what the feck I was saying! He had suggested going for a drink this week and I just said I'm wicked busy in work (I am!) and I'd have to let him know. Argh I don't want to be mean about it but I don't really want to meet up anymore! Things with LLM are fine, the odd text/email here and there which is grand and no horndog messages since I told him tóg go bog é last Saturday. Phew.

Went to see Maeve Higgins preview her Edinburgh set yesterday with the girls in the International. She's very funny and really endearing, I hope she kicks some ass over at the festival! Really must make an effort to go to more gigs and things.

The one where Kitty gets freaked out by sexy texts

Well things are certainly starting to look up on the dating front. Had a second date with Boosh Fan last night, actually I'm going to call him LLM now instead cos BF looks I'm saying boyfriend and it's clearly much too early for such assumptions! (LLM is a short version of his username from the site in case you were wondering) We met up the first time last Wednesday for pints followed by a slightly drunken (well, I was) pizza. So once we got over the initial awkwardness and the odd few "quick, think of something to say" moments, we actually got on really well, lots of common interests, same type of humour, etc etc so plenty of chatting and even a bit of shiftin' towards the end of the night - woo!

However, between Wednesday and last night we had been texting - I managed to inadvertently text that scary Dub man again. Twice. Anyway he started sending me these really dirty messages, things he wants to do to me and the like. And while the actual content sounds like bloody good fun, it was a bit weird since I'd only met him properly the once. So the last one was on Saturday and I just didn't reply for ages, partly because I didn't know what the hell to say and partly because I was caught up in watching Waterford beat Offaly (Ha! You're goin' down Wexford!). So when I eventually did get back to him he asked if it was too much and agreed to take it easy. So apart from the supersexy messages (not that it's necessarily a bad thing, just a bit early..) everything else is good so far, and he even passed the preliminary round of T Dog's suitability test last night when he came in for tea after the cinema. Very important.

Bite this, buddy

I decided to text the Boosh Fan last night and suggest that we meet up tonight.

Heya it's K here, so will we bite this bullet and meet up tomorrow evening?

A few minutes later I got a call from a number I didn't know.

Me: Hello?
Him (in thick Dub accent): Hello? Who's dis?
Me: Sorry? Who's this?
Him: Yis just texted me phone
Me: Oh! Sorry, I must've sent it to the wrong number
Him: Ah righ yeh, yer goin bitin the bullet so are yeh ya mad yoke?
Me (nervously): Ahaha..
Him: Yeh can bite my bullet, wha!

Now, being all cheeky and flirty comes about as naturally to me as blindfolded sheep shearing so I panicked and hung up. And then afterwards thought of all the clever things I should have said.

Paranoia over

...see? It's Marvin the Paranoid Android...nevermind...

Riiight, so the Italian texted me on Friday, saying he didn't get my message till then and that he hopes to see me soon. I forgot to get back to him, but I think I saw him yesterday. I was crossing the bridge right before my house and this guy walking with a bike passed me, I'm 90% certain it was him, especially since he looked like he was about to stop me! I totally bottled it and kept walking though, quelle wuss! I'll probably try to meet him this week though. Promise.

Also, it turns out the Boosh Fan is at some festival in Holland or something, which is why he didn't get in touch. I had emailed him on Friday suggesting we meet up this week and he said he's getting back on Tuesday so might meet him Wednesday or Thursday, eep!

Mambo Italiano

Still no word from the Italian since Tuesday and I haven't heard from the Boosh Fan in two or three days. Maybe I got sprayed with boy repellant as a child. I'm now 24, and I've had one boyfriend. My first kiss wasn't till I was 17 and he turned out to be gay two weeks later. Not exactly encouraging, I think you'll agree!

The rain in Dublin falls far too bloody often

So I'm back from Italy with about two weeks and have since been up to my lovely eyeballs in work. Rome and Venice were AMAZING and so much fun and if the Trevi Fountain is to be believed, I'm definitely going back sometime! Totally lost the run of myself where ice cream was concerned, I mean how could anyone walk past a counter selling coconut, green apple, pineapple, lemon, orange, white chocolate, even Kinder Egg flavoured ice cream and NOT stop!? And they're on every corner and I frigging love it. Neapolitan is about as exciting as it gets over here, it's so unfair!

This lady was by the Trevi Fountain, doing that usually really annoying human statue thing, but she was one of the best I've seen, she looked great and bobbed when you gave her money, and it was a nice change to see a hot lady do it and not a creepy man all painted silver.

I totally fell in love with Venice, especially with all the gorgeous masks in EVERY shop, they're just amazing, I could look at them all day. Needless to say, I bought myself a lovely cat mask over there. Now I just need to invent a reason to wear it...

So anyway in other, more boy-related news:

Toxic Boy has gotten back with his girlfriend, so that's him off the (metaphorical) table, which is probably a good thing, as major awkwardness would most likely ensue if anything further happened.

The Italian has been texting about meeting up, but he works nights and I was too wrecked all last week to do anything so we haven't gotten round to it yet. So he texted last night saying he'd be free this evening, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet since I replied yesterday. Hmm.

The Boosh Fan has been emailing since I got back and we've been chatting back and forth about all kinds of nonsense, even though I got totally caught out looking at his Bebo page back in the beginning when he saw that someone in Dublin viewed him. Foiled by technology! It's been going really well so far though, and I might suggest meeting up next week sometime. I'm still trying not to build it up too much, like I'm worried if I do meet him and don't like him that's it then, back to the drawing board. But we're getting on much like a house on fire (at least I think so) so you never know.

I'm really starting to proper fancy Rex from Big Brother, not least because I had a sexy dream about him last night...
There's not that many hot redheads really, is there? Apart from Prince Harry and Glen Hansard that is, but they're fairly thin on the ground. Oh, and I really need to work on my addiction, I don't even care about half the stories on there but can't help compulsively checking it, it's ridiculous!

Right, back to work then.
